The AGM was attended by 18 members with Apologies from a further 10 members.
Secretary’s report The total number of members in 2016 was 134, the same as in 2015, but there had been changes in each of the classes.Sue Kitto reported on some of the activities at the the club during the year, including ground maintenance, coaching and social events (see attached notes).
Treasurer’s reportThe presented accounts showed an excess of income over expenditure of c£4k.This compared to an excess of expenditure over income in the previous year of c£7k. Queries were raised about the cost of insurance and the hiring out of the clubhouse. Both of these queries are in the process of being followed up.
Captains report The Men’s captain (Pete Houghton) reported verbally on the three Mens Fylde league teams and the Ribble Mixed team. The Lady captain (Sue Kitto) reported verbally on the two Ladies Fylde league teams.
Election of Officers The following were elected:

Election of Committee Committee members (max 7): Christine Booth, Maggie Scott, Dave Roberts, Rodney Akeroyd and Sharron Fitchie. There are two vacancies.
Election of Honorary Auditor Our current auditor, Mr W G Beaty, was re-appointed to the post.
Subscriptions The committee proposal that all classes remain at the 2016 level, with a discount of £10 if payment was received before 31st May 2016, was agreed by the meeting.
Grounds MaintenanceThe committee would like to acknowledge the work of Pete Houghton and Peter Scott who,over the course of the year, have been looking at how best to address ongoing concerns over the condition of the courts. This is with the full support of the committee, whose main priority is keeping the courts in top condition.
Pete H has been researching what equipment is available to clean and rejuvenate our courts. He has also been in contact with Blackburn Northern Tennis club to look at the equipment they use to manage their artificial grass courts.
Peter S has been trialling cleaning the courts with both commercial & less chemical based solutions to establish the best way to keep the moss /algae at bay
Courts are also tractored on a weekly basis by members of the club on a rota basis
We will keep members informed of the progress in relation to the above.
Our thanks also, to Peter Oliver for maintaining the grassed areas of the club (weather permitting) & regular cleaning of the club house.
Floodlights On going problems with the floodlights have now been resolved. Our thanks to Pete H & Rodney Akeroyd for the work they put into addressing this issue.
Coaching The committee would like to thank Lincoln Banister for the coaching expertise he provides for all ages & levels. The juniors turn up on a Friday night whatever the weather & Rusty Rackets have only had a brief break. The older members also value his individual /small group coaching sessions & the availability of these throughout the year.
Social Events Thanks to Barbara Morris & Sharon Fitchie for organising a number of very enjoyable & successful social events throughout the year. These have included Wimbledon Finals Day and a Christmas Social. Thanks also to Jackie Forrester and Barbara C for their support in our very successful Breast Cancer Awareness Fund raising event (which raised £800).
Purchase of a Defibrillator (AED) Sited just inside clubhouse door with brief / clear instructions attached.Training has taken place – thanks to those who were able to attend.(further training can be arranged if requested). E learning tool is also available on line
